Kim Booker

Kim's paintings are semi-autobiographical, often portraying female figures in poses that suggest various emotional states. Using bodies as a language, she skillfully expresses the psychology of the female experience. In her artistic process, Kim relies on intuition, viewing the studio as a space for both action and contemplation. Her goal is to allow her paintings to take form on the canvas as entities in themselves, rather than merely representing predetermined images or ideas.

Her approach to creating art is gestural and instinctive. The paintings evolve through a series of repeated negotiations between the drawn images and their subsequent erasure. Kim's emotions at the time of creation continually inform and shape the works, leading to multiple iterations before the final outcome emerges.
